Denise is a retired marketing and advertising executive and has lived in numerous cities throughout North Carolina, but REALLY loves living in AB. She and her husband Andy have had a summer place here for 35+ years and finally made the big jump to full-time in 2020. She has two sons, two grandsons, and one little Sissy Cat! She loves to read, travel, walk on the beach and watch her husband cook! The ABWC was her vision! She continues to move the organization and our AB community forward with her dedication and tireless energy.

Phyllis is a North Carolina native and lived in Greenville, NC for 20 years with her husband Bill, two daughters and one son. She purchased her home in AB in 1995 and moved here full-time in 2021. Phyllis is a retired physical therapist who has been involved in various civic and professional organizations. Phyllis loves to travel, stroll along the beach, cook, entertain, and has never been labeled “shy.” Phyllis helped establish the ABWC after her husband of over 30 years passed away in 2023. She is committed to giving back by spear-heading ABWC fundraising campaigns.

Laura was born in Eastern NC but got the opportunity to live in Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico and the panhandle of Florida before returning to her roots. AB has been a part of her life since day one, where her family had purchased a beach home in 1958. She is the mother of one son, two daughters and two grandchildren scattered all along the Eastern Seaboard. Partially retired, she spends her time virtually with her fellow NCDIT co-workers, her friends, game buddies and her husband Greg of 30+ years. Her ABWC responsibilities are to assist in strengthening the ABWC digital media presence.

Kim grew up in NC coming to AB every summer to play in the sand and later, to enjoy shagging at “The Circle.” She retired as a medical social worker, most recently serving at Carteret Health Care Hospice. She and her husband Jim moved to Atlantic Beach in 2015 and love the small town feel of AB! Kim enjoys walking on the beach, boating, reading, hanging out with friends, and puttering in her yard. She has three sons, five grandchildren and her golden, Mollybelle. Kim is an original ABWC board member and keeps track of ABWC efforts minute-by-minute, tracking membership, greeting attendees with her “quiet giant” presence and catching all the ABWC moments on camera!

Susan is the newest addition to the ABWC Board. She hails from Raleigh, NC and has two grown sons, Hal and Bryant. She loves math, so a degree from NC State in accounting allowed her to serve several businesses and on various boards as treasurer and office manager.  She moved to Wake Forest in the late 90's. In 2010, she founded Quilt Lizzy, a sewing machine dealership now operating out of a restored historic landmark in Ayden, NC.  She enjoys sewing, reading, gardening and is an accomplished pianist. As you would expect, she loves hanging out at the beach where she is in the process of retiring and sharing her bean-counting skills to keep our 501(c)(3) in compliance.

Yvette is a native of eastern North Carolina but spent 23 years in Vermont where she and her husband Tripp raised their three boys. She returned to the Tarheel State in 2017 and quickly made their way to AB. She has been a travel agent for almost 25 years and takes time each year to plan a trip or two for herself! In addition to travel, she loves boating, dining out, walking her dog London by the shore, and keeping an eye out for the elusive sea turtle nest. As a ABWC board member and Social Committee chair, she puts her hospitality and travel skills to good use by planning monthly, exciting and fun social events all over AB.

Nikki and her husband Jeff are new residents of the Crystal Coast having made their way south from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, Virginia Beach, and finally Raleigh – before landing on the Crystal Coast in Emerald Isle. She is a retired schoolteacher who loves reading, cooking, fun in the sun, and of course, island life. Her newest passion is supporting the mission and goals of the ABWC through membership relations and community outreach. If you are new to the community and ABWC seek her out for how to get involved.
